Algemron

Blessed with two Class 1 worlds, Algemron was a shining example of cooperation between two competing stellar nations. All that was upended by GW2. Today, descendants of the original Austrin and Thuldan colonists are locked in a bitter interplanetary war that has embroiled the system for over a century.

Stellar Bodies

  • Algemron – a G5 star
  • Calderon – a molten world, rich in metal and other strategic elements
  • Ilmater – larger and slightly cooler than Calderon, but consisting mostly of rock
  • Galvin – this former Austrin colony is now home to the independent Federal State of Algemron. Access to its surface is strictly controlled.
  • Alitar – Galvin’s larger and cooler twin, originally settled by the Thuldan Empire. Home today to the Imperial State of Algemron. Since 2468, a Galvinite invasion force has occupied a vast stretch of Alitar’s surface.
  • Dalius – a small gas giant at the edge of the ice line
    • Antigone – a volcanic moon wracked by tidal forces
    • Garian
    • Iona
    • Ouros
    • Nemos
    • Clytemnestra – a cold and arid desert moon with a scant atmosphere of carbon dioxide. VoidCorp is in the process of building a domed colony and atmosphere plant.
  • asteroid belt
    • Argolos – originally claimed by the Austrins, a few Galvinite mining domes remain in operation
    • Wreathe – possess a wisp of a sulphur dioxide atmosphere and native Series IV life.. Originally claimed by the Thuldans, the Alitarins do what they can to prevent prospectors harvesting Whitespike, a primitive lichen which is the only known source of the hallucinogen biaxinin.
  • Reliance – an ice world shrouded in a murky atmosphere of methane, hydrogen, and nitrogen. Home to primitive hydrogen-breathing creatures that arose in the icy seas of water-diluted ammonia.
  • Havryn – a slowly rotating titan of a gas giant, marked by bands of green, white, and blue. Its ten satellites are little more than rocky debris.
  • Palshizon – an oversized carbonaceous asteroid, coated with a dusting of oxygen and ammonia ices. Located here is Pariah Station, headquarters of the Concrod Nuetrality Patrol.
  • Halo – a small captured gas giant, marked with bands of blue and white. Its rapid rotation, offset magnetic pole, and a ring system heavy in metal particles and conductive gases radiate a dim fluorescence.
    • Abdiel – an ice-surfaced orb about the size of Luna
    • A9ii
    • A9iii
    • Uriel – the largest satellite in Algemron; covered by a frigid smog of nitrogen and hydrocarbons
    • A9v

History

In 2361, the Profit Alliance declared war on the Expansion Pentad. Despite its distance from the Stellar Ring, war came to the Algemron system. Even when the Long Silence began in 2375, the Thuldans and Austrins of Algemron fought on.

Eventually, in 2404, a cease fire was agreed. This lasted until the 6th of August 2461, when the Galvinites committed a betrayal of shocking magnitude. Under the guise of a diplomatic mission, the FSA Ajax landed in Alitar’s capital, Beronin, where it detonated a fusion bomb. Half a million Thuldans were killed.

It soon became apparent that Galxin’s dictator, Supreme Commander Blayne Reuter, had been planning the renewal of the war for some time. In 2468, a Galvinite invasion force of several hundred thousand soldiers set down in the heartland of Alitar. Today, a slice of territory almost 1000km wide and 2000km long is held by the invaders.

Red Rain

In response for the destruction of their capital city, the Thuldans bombarded Galvin with a biological agent known as Red Rain. This voracious microbe converted organic matter into a lethal mycotoxin. Hundreds of thousands of Galvinites died from exposure and almost 10% of the planet’s surface remains uninhabitable today.

The Monitor Mandate

When the stellar nations returned to the Verge, both the Thuldan Empire and Austrin-Ontis Unlimited demanded recognition of their claim to Algemron and the right to intervene in the conflict. In order to avoid precipitating a third Galactic War, Concord issued the Monitor Mandate. The brainchild of Undersecretary Michael Thayne of the Galactic Consulate, this endowed both Alitar and Galvin with full independence, Thuldan and Austrin ships were barred from the system, and the Algemron Neutrality Patrol was established. This was tasked with enforcing the mandate and protecting neutral shipping.
