While each system in the Verge is unique, some are more unique than others… Dewi stands alone as the last fragment of a defeated stellar nation. In 2497, two officials from the Galactic Concord recognised the system’s governing council as the sole inheritor of the Dreth Commonwealth.
Stellar Bodies

- Dewi – an ancient orange K0 star
- Belatu – orbiting once every 2 hours, average temperatures on the permanent day side exceed 3000degC, rendering its surface an ocean of liquified metal and rock. A single research station sits in the centre of the night side.
- Cadros – an inhospitable world with a single, insignificant satellite
- Amaethon – the larger of two gas giants in Dewi’s habitable zone; 28 moons
- Penzance – this innermost moon suffers its parent’s strong electromagnetic and gravitational fields
- Cherbourg – Amaethon’s second moon; a small domed town here is Concord’s official base of operations in the system.
- Lorient – the 3rd moon is a dry world, inhabited only by microbes before becoming the youngest of the seven Dreth colonies, with 300,000 now living in the capital city of Jalent
- Ferrand – the 4th moon boasts the city of Chelt, the oldest settlement in the system and home to nearly a million individuals. It is also the nominal capital of the NDC, hosting monthly meetings of the Dreth Commonwealth Council, and sporting both the sole Concord embassy among the seven colonies and one of the largest Concord Survey Service offices in the Verge. Two cruisers are based here; half the naval might of the NDC.
- Lousanne & Arles – the 5th and 6th moons share their orbit, exchanging momentum each time one is about to catch up to the other. While at their closest, a sealed skycar could travel between them, ties are not close between the two worlds. Lousanne is populated by highly conservative agriculturalists. Arles is home to the city of Isette, one of the largest manufacturing centres in the Verge, capable of creating state-of-the-art tech rarely produced outside the Stellar Ring. Its government is also the most mutable, often swayed by reasoned argument during a debate.
- Nyons – the 7th moon is uninhabited, except for a few small mining concerns
- Caridwen – the smaller of two gas giants in Dewi’s habitable zone; 10 moons
- Bodmin – the capital city, Archilla, is named after the old Commonwealth’s second world and the centre of its spirit.
- Lauceston – this moon’s small population is held in a single city, Tilburn. A large fraction of the Dreth military hail from here, but its representatives rarely make an impression at council meetings.
- Tavistock – 3rd; unpopulated
- Torpoint – the system’s only superport is sited here, hovering in synchronous orbit above the city of Afterglow. First-time visitors are required to register their vessel here, and each moon-state staffs an office aboard to issue visas.
- Falmouth – 5th; unpopulated
- Torquay – 6th; unpopulated
- Cuchain – the outermost 10th moon is a cold and inhospitable Class 3 world with an irregular orbital path
- Gwydion – a middling gas giant with 14 moons; the Dreth navy, augmented by Concord’s presence, prevent its upper cloud layers from being used as an occasional hiding place by criminals or pirates.
- Dylan – in addition to its 9 moons, this gas giant is surrounded by a cloud of dust and ice, likely caused by an impact in the last thousand years, slowly coalescings into a ring system which may rival that of Saturn or even Callin (in the Borealis system of Agraine) within a century.
- Bran – the most distant and smallest of the five gas giants, barely qualifying as such; a likely candidate for prospecting; 6 moons
- Arianrhod – in lieu of an atmosphere, a metres-deep layer of dust and various ices coat much of the surface
- Pwyll – a sterile but sizeable rock leased by the Thuldan Empire (staunch ally of the old Commonwealth and an ardent supporter of the NDC) which has recently started construction of a superport here
The New Dreth Commonwealth
The Dreth Commonwealth, felled by Rigunmor naval prowess and VoidCorp treachery during GW2, is no more. And yet, the memory of great days and great dreams lives on. Through music, poetry, and stories, the Dreth remember. On worlds occupied by their hated enemies, in marginal settlements in Concord space, alongside Inseers in the territories that rebelled against VoidCorp, and in one small system near the edge of known human space, the Dreth remember.
