A habitable desert moon of Sperous, boasting the oldest human colony in this region of space. A third the size of its parent, it is not yet tidally locked, though its slow rotation produces nights 40 hours long.
Alaundril hosts the largest shipyards in the Verge. Babel, the capital, stands out amidst smaller scattered settlements. Several influential businesses, including Ion Productions (ship construction), Copernicus Capital (transportation), and TaskCor Communications (maintainers of Nova Station’s drivesat relay) are based here.
Babel
By far the largest settlement on Alaundril; a sprawling city whose lights are visible from space. The original designers split it into districts whose focus has drifted over time:
- Centre – main landing pads and government buildings
- NW – industrial district. Ion Productions shipyards
- W & SW – military bunkers and government landing pads
- S – education & research campuses and recreation facilities
- SE – Foundingstones district. Residences of the wealthy elite
- E – business district
- NE – residential district
- N – slum district
